Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, announced on Sunday that starting on September 5, the cost of the current version of what the company refers to as its full self-driving feature will rise from $12,000 to $15,000.
In addition to that, Teslas are currently expensive, with the lowest-priced Model 3 starting at roughly $47,000 and the highest-priced Model X at roughly $121,000.
Musk tweeted about the price change:
According to the company’s website, depending on the Autopilot technology used in a particular vehicle, the current subscription cost for fully autonomous driving ranges from $99 to $199 per month. Whether that price is also changing was not immediately apparent.
According to the electric vehicle news site Electrek, the most recent version of Tesla’s full self-driving capability now includes smoother stops, enhanced animal and pedestrian detection, and better left turns.
Tesla cars cannot drive themselves without human intervention thanks to current technology. It necessitates that drivers keep their hands on the wheel at all times, pay attention to the road, and remain cognizant of the navigation route.
According to a statement on Tesla’s website, “the currently enabled features require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.”
